Bomb attack on church in Democratic Republic of Congo: 5 dead, 15 injured

A bomb attack was carried out on the Protestant church in Kasindi, located in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the Ugandan border, during Sunday mass. According to initial reports, at least 5 people lost their lives and 15 were injured in the attack. In a statement to the press, Army spokesman Anthony Mualushay said that the Democratic Alliance Forces (ADF) linked to the terrorist organization Daesh was probably behind the attack and said, "The first indications show that the ADF is behind this bomb attack."

Regional Manager Charles Omeonga said in a statement that the loss of life may increase, and that the ADF has targeted Kasindi for the first time since 2014. The ADF has raided dozens of villages and killed hundreds of people since it pledged allegiance to the terrorist organization DAESH in 2019.
