Between January and December of 2022, Zonguldak Airport broke a record with 848 commercial passenger planes and 110,874 passengers annually. According to the data announced, at Zonguldak Airport between January 1 and December 31; There were 505 domestic flights and 619 international flights. 234 domestic flights and 614 international flights were made on Commercial Passenger Aircraft. While the number of passengers arriving and departing from domestic lines reached 15 thousand 365, this number for international flights reached 95 thousand 509. It was determined that 285 tons of cargo and baggage were carried on domestic lines and 1,914 tons on international lines.
Zonguldak Airport Manager Hasan Özşahin stated that they achieved their goals in 2022 and that the plans for 2023 are continuing at full speed. Airport Manager Hasan Özşahin said, “When we look at the evaluation in 2022, when we analyze the planning made from the beginning of January until the end of the year, the targets set and the realizations, there was no deviation, the targets were met. We do not accept the period of 2021 as a certain pandemic period as a measure. But there is no deviation from our targets in 2022, and this will continue as long as there are no compelling reasons. Of course, when we look at the realizations, both the plans made on behalf of the airline companies and our preparations here ensured the actual realization of the targeted number of aircraft and passengers. In this respect, our expectations for 2022 resulted in a positive situation. Hopefully, there will be no deviations in the realizations regarding the coming years, and accordingly, additional preparations and plans of both us and the airline companies have been made according to 2023, so that our expatriate compatriots can feel comfortable. As you know, as of 2022, actual planes are taking place without any interruption. This was advantageous over a 12-month period. The airport, which has a regional character, serves the Western Black Sea region. Our dear compatriots' trust in this matter is increasing day by day."
“We will make an Umrah expedition for the first time”
Announcing that the first Umrah expedition will take place on Tuesday, Director Özşahin said, “The Umrah expedition will be made from next week. This flight with Turkish Airlines will take place on Tuesday and the plane is full. In other words, they will try for the first time, there is a demand from our regional compatriots. Maybe in 1 week and 10 days, hopefully we will wait for them to return safely. Plans will be made accordingly. People are happy when we provide Umrah services for the first time. Hopefully, our fellow countrymen who will go on pilgrimage and umrah again in the future will be sent off and welcomed. After all, it will be a first, I hope it will continue," he said.
Özşahin also talked about the plans for the airport's development project. Director Özşahin explained that works are continuing to provide passenger convenience and meet social needs in the terminal building, and that the works will be completed by the first days of March.
